Carla Hunt - Beauty in the Okanagan I am a self-taught photographer based in Vernon, British Columbia. My focus is on wildlife and landscape photography with the goal of bringing Beauty in the Okanagan to the people. As the population continually increases in the Okanagan region, we need to be aware of our natural surroundings to ensure we protect the critical habitat that the wildlife call home. I am a member of the Kwakiutl First Nation, located on northern Vancouver Island. I was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia. I moved to Vernon in 1998 and fell in love with the area. In recent years, I moved back to Victoria to care for my ailing foster-dad who was suffering from dementia. Anyone who has cared for a loved-one will understand the importance of self-care for the caregiver. For me, it was purchasing a Nikon D7000. |
Dale Eurich
Dale Eurich - Flicker Album
My photography philosophy is simple:
“When I come across a scene that I want to photograph, I try to see in my “mind’s eye” what the final image will look like.
I often try to convey a specific mood or feeling and hopefully my images evoke a response in the viewer.
Also, I try to make images of things the viewer may not be fortunate enough to see in their lifetime or to take the simple things we often walk by without seeing the beauty in and showcasing that beauty.”
Thomas Haslinger - Fine Art Photography by Thomas Haslinger I have been taking images in one form or another since my early teens. I just recently started sharing my outdoor images with the public at large. In 2020 my image “For Me” won first place in the SPCA 2020 Wildlife-in-Focus photography contest. Creating those "moments" to remember is a joy, especially if it's reflected in the viewers eyes. My images have been featured in recognized national and international publications, soft and hard cover books. Some of those publications are: Canadian Cowboy, Western Sportsman, Cottelli (Italy), American Handgunner, Biker, Knives Illustrated, Blade Magazin, Messer Magazin (Germany) and such coffee table books as "Art of the Knife (USA), Art of Steel (Germany)". |

Based in the lower mainland, internationally acclaimed fine art photographer and educator Sharon Tenenbaum was our guest speaker. |
Originally from the UK and currently a resident of Salmon Arm BC. I have resided in Canada since 2007, I am heavily influenced by the beautiful environment that surrounds me. I have a background in fine art and anthropology. This combined with my love of the natural world brings a unique perspective to my photography: My ethos is to tread lightly; observe and search out the subtle visual story within whichever photographic genre I am working. |
Our April speaker Mark Koegel came to us live from Germany via zoom (about 3AM Germany time). |
